one thing i didn't expect was the crowd of people camped at changi beach. well, i know this yr's holiday is a long one since new year falls on mon and tues, but i didn't expect the hoards and hoards of people there. there were so many tents set up that one of my bros said that it was a scene from a refugee camp. it was true ok, it was as if singapore had suffered a natural disaster and all these people were homeless.
anyway, we waited for one of our cousins to come, then went on to set up the games stations. it's like a tradition that for every family day, my family will be the ones organising. this yr's was a mini amazing race. 4 of us had painstakingly set up the stations and cordoned off some of the area, when suddenly, the wind started to blow very very strongly. i was running around trying to put the things back into places.
my parents, aunts, uncles and the rest of the cousins then came and i tell you, with my eldest aunt around, you don't need to be afraid of starving. she bought food that is more than enough to feed a whole army i think. there was so much food!
while we were setting up the place, one incident happened. one of my aunt bought a dome tent, so me and my bro started to set it up. but to our dismay, my aunt brought only the flysheet and the metal stuff but not the tent itself! ok, so my bro realised this and was telling everyone, that we can't set up a tent cos the tent itself wasn't there but then came our FAVOURITE cousin-in-law of about a month plus and he started bossing us around. he insisted that the tent was there, and we could set it up. i got pissed off then i just dumped the stuff i was holding and walked away. my other cousins and my bro were getting unhappy too. in the end, the SMART and CAPABLE dear-cousin-in-law proclaimed loudly that YES, THE TENT IS MISSING. my bro was like."WTF??!!" we realised it like long time ago and you were the one who keep insisting that it was a tent and now, you're saying this?! by then, know what he did, he just put his stuff down, and walked away, leaving everything halfway. with the strong wind blowing, of course the sheet will fly off right? so i my bro and my cousin was left to lay it out on the ground and secure it with some rocks.
i'm glad we held the picnic yesterday and at that particular place, cos there was a man who brought his HUGE HUGE cat for a walk. i was super excited la! i mean this cat is really big. can easily say twice or three times bigger than my biggest cat at home. what’s more exciting is that the cat, his name is Tiger by the way, didn't run off or anything, he just sat there, allowing people to pet him and take pics of him. everyone around was fascinated. i seriously wanted to bring it home lor. so cute and so big.
after which, we had the mini amazing race and when 15 people raced and challenged against each other, the commotion was enough to attract the attention of the people around us. everyone stopped to stare at us. we were seriously loud! this race had 7 stations in total so, everyone was running around and shouting to each other. it got so crazy that most of them didn't follow the rules and just attacked like nobody's business. the best and funniest moments was at the last station. they were supposed to dig up stuff i had buried in the sand. so from the 2nd last station at the bbq pit area, they had to run towards the beach where the last station was. so imagine, all 15 people suddenly came running towards the beach and started digging. people around us were shocked no doubt. it was so funny to see my uncles and aunts on their knees digging. it wasn't everyday you get to see them in these positions.
so i then spent the rest of the day cycling, swimming and eating. as a result, i got sunburned pretty bad. it's awful ok, cos my skin is so red and black and i only realised i was sunburned when i got home at night. sigh.
i guess i'd better get used to seeing a dark me, as tomorrow, i'll be going to ubin with the girls. another burning session i shall say.
